Melabella Honey

We typically harvest wildflower honey in June-July. Our wildflower honey is a mix of nectar from flowering plants and trees such as Tulip Poplar, Black Locust, Clover, Blackberry, and Basswood, among others.

Our honey is neither micro-filtered nor processed under high heat, retaining the beneficial enzymes and trace pollen from an abundance of different floral sources.  This not only helps with the wonderful flavor of the honey but it is much healthier.

We will be soon providing other wonderful honeybee derived products like lip balms, lotions and candles. Stay tuned and see us grow within this wonderful industry.

We offer FREE honey bee swarm removal. In the springtime, the honeybees will often swarm. Swarming is the natural way for a hive to split and form new hives. A swarm that is left alone will cause no harm as they are typically very docile at this time. During this time, the swarmed bees will try to find a new suitable space to form their hive. While clustered together, scout bees will search out new places. After a few hours and sometimes a couple of days, the swarm will leave their resting place to take up residence in their newly chosen hive location. This can be an old human made bee hive, a hollow tree, or inside a wall in a manmade structure like a home.

Removing the bees at the swarm location is FREE as this is a service to the bees and the community. Once the bees are removed, the bees are introduced into a man-made hive in our apiary.

If you come across a swarm of bees or if you know you have bees in your house, please take a couple of pictures, note its height off the ground, and let us know.

Unfortunately, sometimes we are too late and bees will get inside the walls of a house. Removing these bees is a more complex process that requires time and expertise. Removing a colony of honeybees that is living in the wall of a structure oftentimes requires the removal of exterior siding or roofing, or the cutting of interior walls, floors and/or ceilings.

We utilize a specialized bee-vacuum to safely remove the bees and to efficiently relocate the colony.

In the state of Georgia, the removal of the honeybee from within man-made structures is regulated. To do so, the operator has to be certified. This protects the consumer by establishing a minimum competency standard for the honeybee removal. It also supports honeybee conservation and its relocation without killing the colony. This certification  provides minimum standards and guarantees within the service rendered and it supports agriculture for the production of honey and related products.

To provide this more specialized service, Dr. David Martinez is certified in Honeybee Control and Removal. This is done through Easier Remodeling so that not only the bees are safely removed but the quality of the repairs are unbeatable. No matter how difficult the extraction is, we can guarantee the quality of the repairs rendered.
